Introducing the gbNYC Audiocast: Episodes 1-3
As you may have noticed, about a month ago we gave gbNYC a major facelift. We’re still working out some kinks and playing with the format, but we hope you’re finding it more user-friendly so far. One of our new features that we’re excited to introduce for the first time in connection with the new-look site is a weekly audiocast. We’ve recorded the first three episodes, which you can access after the jump, and hope to present a new episode weekly moving forward. The goal of the audiocast is to increase the depth and scope of content that gbNYC brings to you, allowing us to dig a bit deeper into important green building issues. In each episode, we’ll discuss posts from the previous week in more detail, as well as present other green issues that we’ve yet to delve into on the site. The audiocast is produced by Washington, D.C.-based attorney Ryan Genovese, who also serves as the moderator along with yours truly. Let us know what you think of the audiocast or if you yourself might be interested in joining the discussion on a future episode. Below you’ll find the show notes and links to the audiocast file itself.
Week 1 (January 26, 2008)
In our inaugural audiocast, we discuss the January 22 post about greening industrial facilities and take a look back at gbNYC’s list of the top 5 New York City green buildings from 2007.

Week 2 (February 2, 2008)
Our topic this week was congestion pricing. Ryan and Stephen review Mayor Bloomberg’s original plan as set forth in PlaNYC 2030, as well as proposed amendments from a state commission charged with reviewing alternatives. We also preview the Managing Risk in Sustainable Building Conference, which was held on February 7-8 at the DePaul Real Estate Center in Chicago.
Week 3 (February 9, 2008)
We take a look back at the Managing Risk in Sustainable Building Conference, as well as discuss some of the green initiatives that are currently on the books in the Windy City.

Favorite Book 2007
The Toyota Way is my favorite book for 2007. It had so many good ideas that I could not keep up and ended up reading it again and even buying the Field Book to go along with it.
Download Elegant Solutions from Change This which provides some highlights of the Toyota Production System. Too many ideas that are applicable to contractors to even count!
