Year in Review: Best Homebuilding Products of 2007

 |  from Construction Jobs Blog

In December, Builder News published a list of its top new building products of 2007.  Here are some highlights:

Structural:  Litracon light-transmitting concrete.  You have to see this stuff to believe it!  Made by adding optical fibers to the fine concrete mixture, this material opens up a new realm of stunning visual possibilities to builders.  Available in prefabricated blocks and panels, it’s also easy to use.

Plumbing:  HansaClear Lux Showerheads.  Continuing with the light and transparency theme, these showerheads illuminate the water as it goes through the unit, and bathe the shower in any number of colors selectable with a button.

Green:  Greensulate Mushroom Insulation.  Every year, homeowners spend millions protecting and ridding their homes of fungi:  mold.  Now, builders may spend millions purposely surrounding their homes with fungi!  Greensulate is a biodegradable replacement for polystyrene and styrofoam.  It has a comparable R-Value (3.0), is non-flammable, and is less expensive than many foam products.  Its production requires no energy inputs, and there are no related health or allergy risks.

These are just a selection of the top products in the Structural, Plumbing, and Green categories, and Builder News covers a number of other categories as well.  Check out the list to see all the top homebuilding products of 2007!
